Os indicados ao Globo de Ouro, premiação que contempla cinema e TV, foram anunciados na manhã desta segunda-feira (11). A apresentação das 27 categorias ficou a cargo dos atores Cedric the Entertainer e Wilmer Valderrama e foi exibida pela rede de TV americana CBS e pelo canal da emissora no YouTube. A transmissão estava marcada para as 10h (horário de Brasília), mas atrasou.

Este ano, o prêmio anunciou duas novas categorias que já começam a valer para a cerimônia de 2024. A primeira é Conquista Cinematográfica e de Bilheteria, que irá premiar os melhores filmes dentre os maiores sucessos de bilheteria no ano. Outra novidade é a premiação de melhor performance de comédia stand-up, que premiará especiais de humor com mais de 30 minutos lançados em canais, VOD ou plataformas de streaming. A categoria irá indicar seis concorrentes todos os anos.

O Globo de Ouro 2024 acontece no dia 7 de janeiro. Segundo a CNN, humoristas como Chris Rock, Ali Wong e Will Arnett teriam declinado os convites para comandar a cerimônia.

Em 2021 o Globo de Ouro recebeu uma avalanche de críticas após uma reportagem do jornal Los Angeles Times apontar a falta de diversidade no corpo de jurados da premiação. Após a denúncia, a NBC cancelou a transmissão do evento em 2022. A cerimônia deste ano, apresentada por Jerrod Carmichael, teve a segunda pior audiência da história. Com a crise, a Associação de Imprensa Estrangeira de Hollywood, que realizava a premiação desde 1944, vendeu os direitos do Globo de Ouro e encerrou as atividades. O prêmio foi comprado pelas produtoras Dick Clark Productions e Eldridge.
